A Busy Week
Herne Bay Bowls Club had a busy week. The men won 5 of the 6 triples played against Probus and won by 54 shots. They then only 1 of 5 rinks at home to Maidstone losing by 40 shots. The game against Hesketh Park was close. Although Bay won 3 of the 4 rinks they only won by 8 shots overall.
Herne Bay Bowling Club will be hosting their annual Finals Weekend - 8th and 9th September. The programme for the weekend can be downloaded by clicking here. Congratulations to all those that have reached the finals and good luck.
A Step Closer
Herne Bay have moved a step closer to winning the East Kent Mixed Triples League. They shared rink honours 3 a piece at Birchington but lost overall by 8 shots. All 8 points were then picked up in the home game with Ashford Town with Bay winning all 6 triples. They now only need 2 points to secure the title.
Herne Bay bowlers had mixed fortunes in the final stages of the County competitions. Shaun Woolford lost 21-14 in the quarter final of the singles. Dave Mason and Grant Allen lost by 3 shots in the pairs quarter final. Alfie Lewis, Shaun Woolford, Ian Robb and Paul Woolford were beaten in the 4’s quarter final. However, the 4 of Dave Mason, Scott Whiting, Joe Kelly and Grant Allen beat a team from Gravesend in the quarter final and Chatham in the semi-final to reach the County 4’s final to be played at Halls (Dartford) on Sunday 29th July.
Club Mixed Triples Results
After an enjoyable afternoon of bowling in the Club Mixed Triples competition yesterday, we are pleased to announce the first set of finalists in the line-up for Finals Weekend. A big congratulations goes to Val Keleghar, Chris Adams and Sara Trotter who will play Mary Gibbon, Russell Cooper and Terry Kelly in a full 18 end match in the finals. Well done.

Putting HBBC on the Map
On Sunday our fours team of Pat Knight, Cath Watson, Gill Baker and Ellen Foster contested the County Divisional Final at Boughton where they unfortunately lost to a strong 4 from Ashford Rail.
On Monday evening Shaun Woolford won the Divisional Final of the badged singles beating Gordon Charlton 21 - 15 at Birchington. Shaun will play his County quarter final and hopefully semi-final at OGF Bowls Club, Gravesend on Tuesday 17 July in his attempt to reach the County final.
Last night Dave Mason and Grant Allen won the Divisional Final of the pairs at Ashford Rail and will play their County quarter final at Ditton on Wednesday 18 July.
Tomorrow night Shaun is in another Divisional Final (2 wood) at Folkestone.
On Friday of this week Len Brown, Mike Trotter, Bob Baldwin and Brian Dennis will play the Divisional Final of the over 55 fours against a 4 from Victoria Park. This will be held at Herne Bay starting at 10.30. For this match it has been agreed that the main green will play away from the pavilion and then be turned on completion of the match. Any support for the men would be appreciated.
On Friday evening at Aylesham & Snowdown we have two 4's through to the Divisional Final. Alfie Lewis, Shaun Woolford, Ian Robb and Paul Woolford will play a 4 from Sandwich and Dave Mason, Scott Whiting, Grant Allen and Joe Kelly will play a 4 from Canterbury.
Don't forget that the Cox Cup gets under way starting on Saturday morning where our home rink will be playing Folkestone Park at 10.30 and on Monday night when home rinks will be playing Whitstable and Hythe.
Finally our Ladies commence their Mollie Cleggett campaign next Tuesday against Ashford Town with the home rink starting at 2.00.

The Certificates will be presented to Barbara and Joyce, onSaturday 18th November 2017 at the KCBA Unified AGM, which will be heldat Aylesford Community Centre, commencing at 10.00 a.m.
Mollie Cleggett Memorial Cup

Herne Bay Ladies played the first round of the Mollie Cleggett on Tuesday 16th JulyÂ playing one team at home and one away against Ash Bowls Club. Herne Bay ladies won by a very small margin of 2 shots. The next round is against Canterbury Bowls Club and isÂ being played on Tuesday 13th August at 2pm.
Bay Ladies Win County Badge

The Herne Bay ladies triple of Marian Algar, Lyn Phillips and Jan Remmington won their Kent County badges at the weekend. Playing against a triple from Ashford Rail at Aylesham the Bay trio had a comfortable 23 â€“ 7 win in the Kent County Divisional Final. They will now play in the County semi-final at Milton Regis on Sunday 8 July.
