Team Managers Bugle
Thursday 16th July 2015 7:33 am
A week of mixed fortune in the Cox Cup. First the bad news - Team 'A' lost both at home and away to a very strong Canterbury side who have high hopes of  winning the competition outright - and from a personal point of view they have an excellent chance of achieving this. However congratulations must go to the 'A' side who had a good run for their money with some members doing their chances of  further  representation in club games no harm.Â
The good news being the result of  Ray Chipperfield, Mike Trotter, Bob Day and Brian Gisby (home) and Peter Nolan, Ray Day, Bob Simcock and Stevie Brown (away), or in other words Herne Bay 'B', beating the only side Folkstone Town entered. This victory was so much the sweeter as Folkestone  had beaten Herne Bay 'C' the week before. Well done lads, a great result and from all accounts perfectly deserved. The side now go through to the area Semi Final where they will meet another Canterbury side next Monday.
The Buttons household was fairly subdued after Monday night, the Team Manager having returned home after playing at Canterbury in place of an unfit Mike Ward. The look said it all so as I would have had to admit that her favorite , TK, was not playing, Â bowls was not mentioned. We spent a peaceful remainder of the evening watching the recording of the earlier evenings speedway - Swindon v Poole.Â
