17/2/26 Lancasters vs Boughton Courtenays (Home) The Lancasters played the home leg of their last fixture of the Short Mat Season on Tuesday. Addy Sanni, Shaun Green and Dave Prior unusually played on the Blue Mat but had a very strong game winning by 20 points to 8. On the red mat, Jane Lee, Dave and Chris Stuart had a very close game. After 13 ends they stood 9-14 down; but dug deep to score 5 points in the last two ends to draw the game. Lancasters took 5 Leagues points from the 6 available for the game. This moved Lancasters into 4th position in Division 3, just 3 points behind 3rd position. The final return, away match will be played next week.
17/2/26 Aylesham Starlings vs Spitfires (Away) Also playing on Tuesday, Spitfires played their final away match of the season at Aylesham. Pat Knight, Marianne and John Offer had a difficult match. They took the first 3 ends to lead 4-0 but the Starlings came back strongly to take the next 5 ends. Despite winning 4 of the remaining ends, they lost 17-9. On the second mat Maureen, Pauline & Colin controlled the game from the start and went on to win 12-17. Aylesham took 4 League Points to Spitfires 2.
Spitfires are currently in 6th position in Division 2 holding 35 points. With the Aylesham Magpies on the bottom spot with only 13 points and the next 4 teams, including Spitfires, having only 5 points between them there is all to play for to keep their place in the second division.
