Sara Trots up in 2 wood final

Herne Bay’s Sara Trotter won her Kent County badge with success in the 2 wood divisional final at Canterbury. Playing against Barbara Maxted from Ash, Trotter recorded a narrow 13 – 12 win.

In the men’s County competitions Bay  have representatives in 3 Kent Divisional Finals. Terry Kelly will play at Aylesham in the badged singles. Dave Mason and Ian Robb play the pairs at Thanet and Dave Mason, Brian Dennis, Scott Whiting and Ian Robb contest the 4’s at Sandwich.

In the Cox cup the Herne Bay ‘A’ team won their preliminary round fixture against Hythe. The away rink of Roy Chillingworth, Mike Ward, Tony Rowson and Alf Collar  winning 19 – 15 and the home rink of David Knight, Stuart Emert, John Melford and Jim Watson winning 24 – 14. Bay will now play Sellindge in the 1st round.

Bay had a disappointing night at home to Canterbury in the Forest of Blean league winning only 1 triple (Andrew Godsell, Bob Baldwin and Scott Whiting 18 – 11) and drawing 1 of the 6 triples played.

Bay picked up 6 of the 8 points in the East Kent mixed triples league match away at Ashford Town winning by 14 shots. The hosts were only able to field 5 triples. Lyn Phillips, Ray Chipperfield and Bill Robb won 28 - 9.

Bay won 2 of the 6 triples played in a mixed match at Thanet losing by 10 shots overall.

In the home games against Swanley the men won on all 4 rinks played and by 50 shots and the Ladies won 3 of the 4 triples played winning by 36 shots.

In the annual Captain versus Vice Captain game Captain John Phillips’s team won by 15 shots from Vice Captain Stuart Emert.
