A Successful Centenary Open Tournament

Herne Bay held a 2 day £2000 open pairs competition celebrating the centenary of the club. The format was a group stage on day 1 with the 10 group winners and 6 best runners up playing on a knockout basis on day 2. The final was between pairs from St. Lawrence with Ken Weyand and Dex Weyand beating Darren Burton and Sam Bellem in the 11 end final by 13-6. The winners received £500 each and the runners up £200 each. There was also prize money for the defeated quarter and semi finalists.
In the Forest of Blean league Bay were surprisingly beaten by 9 shots away at Boughton and only picked up 3 of the 8 available points. Bay go into their final match against Birchington needing 4 points to be sure of retaining their league title.
