Team Managers Bugle

Unfortunately personal circumstances dictated that I should miss last nights Top Club encounter at home to Hythe. However my "spy in the sky" informs me that a 1-4 defeat could so easily have been reversed. In the two single disciplines both Bob Simcock and Mike Trotter played extremely well and only slipped up on the last few ends. Mike Trotter deserves special mention insomuch as holding 3 or 4 shots his opponent came in for shot and game with his last bowl. A good win 21 - 16 by Dave Knight, Alf Collar , Ray Day and Bob Day in the 4's was our single victory on the night. My thanks go to Robbie for marking both singles, Stan for officiating in the Umpire stakes , Bob Day & Brian Gisby for taking over the official duties, Roy for acting as reserve and bartender, Chippers for his support on a cold night and last but by no means least Angie for what I am told was an excellent meal.
Three fixtures are coming up this week:-
Thursday 19th May Herne Bay 'A' will be travelling to Bettshanger for a 1st round Double Fours tie. The team will leave the club at 4.30pm for a 6pm start.
Saturday 21 May Herne Bay 'B' will be at home to Birchington 'A' in a 1st round tie of the Double 4's. Players to be at the club at 9.30am for a 10am start.
Sunday 22 May Herne Bay 'A' will be at home to Lyminge in a 1st round tie of the Top Club. Players to be at the club by 9.30am for a 10am start.
All supporters are more than welcome. On Sunday 22nd at 10am there are also a couple of EBA Over 65 Pairs. So there is a wealth of good bowling to be seen.
