After what can best be described as an "eventful" morning Herne Bay sent out 2 sides in the Divisional Semi Final of the Cox Cup. Having attended the away fixture I can only report directly as the game panned out at Canterbury. After 5 ends the away rink of Shaun Woolford, Steve brown, Paul Woolford and Eddie Allen were really struggling against a very strong Canterbury rink. it would not be amiss to report that Paul & Eddie were keeping us in the game. The news from Spencer Road came in that The Bay rink of Terry Kelly, Scott Whiting, Ian Robb and Joe Kelly were leading 8 - 2. At 9 ends the away rink looked as if a beating was on the cards as they were 9 - 3 down. The news from home was better with The Bay leading 11 - 4. The Bay gained the mat at Canterbury and from that moment they never looked back. With the mat one quarter of the way up the green The Bay never dropped another shot. With news coming in from home that they were leading 18 - 6 after 15 ends and Canterbury finally conceding the tie at 26 - 7. At the time the away rink was 19 - 9 up after 18 ends. A total win of 45 - 16, a magnificent win. Brilliant result and congratulations to all players.
The Divisional Final will be played next Monday 8 August at 5.30pm at at the neutral green - Victoria Park against St. Lawrence. All supporters are more than welcome.
