Herne Bay Bowls Club held their annual open day on Saturday. Thanks are sent to Homebase and Canterbury Garden Centre for donating plants for the plant stall.

In the Forest of Blean league match Herne Bay won  5 of the 6 triples played against Charing.  Winning overall by 40 shots gave Bay 7 of the 8 available points. The triple of Terry Kelly, Steve Brown and Andrew Godsell  had a 19 shot victory.

In the away fixture with Aylesham and Snowdown the triples were shared 3 each but Bay lost overall by 14 shots. The triple of Steve Caruth, Alf Collar and Bob Simcock had an 8 shot win.

At home to Kearsney in the first leg of the annual trophy, Bay were beaten by 16 shots. Bill Gibbon, Colin Hadlow and Bill Robb were the best triple for Bay winning 24 – 12.

Bay won their opening East Kent Mixed Triples league match of the campaign at Minster by 8 shots, Winning 3 and drawing 1 of the 6 triples gave Bay 5 ½ points. Lyn Phillips, ray Chipperfield and Bill Robb won 17 -8.

The Ladies beat Aylesham and Snowdown by 7 shots with Diane Melford, Maureen Day and Joyce Whitlock winning 21 – 7.
