Ian Robb has progressed to the 3rd round of The National Champion of Champions with a  21 – 9 win over Clive Bishop (Ditton Bowls Club)

A good win of 29 – 12 from the triple of Val Miller, Bob Dartnall and Bill Robb was not enough to save Herne bay from a 7 shot defeat by Canterbury in the East Kent Mixed Triples League. Both clubs won 3 of the 6 triples played giving Bay 3 of the 8 available points.

Herne Bay won 5 of the 6 rinks played against VCD (Midweek Section) winning overall by 31 shots. Once again a Herne Bay rink obtained a hot shot 8 being the rink of Marian Algar, Mike Head, Colin Hadlow and Alan Kent. They went on to be the best winning rink by 13 shots.

Although Bay won 5 and drew 1 of the 9 triples played against Thanet they lost on the overall shot score by 6. The best winning triple was that of acting Captain John Phillips, John Rowe and Edie Nicholls 22 – 14.

In an away mixed triples match  at Dane Park both sides scored 100 shots. Bay won 2 and drew 1 of the 6 triples with Richie Callanan, Pat Baldwin and Peter Gibson winning 21 – 13.
